Best of the Bunch: February 2012

Best of the bunch is hosted by Sally at Always Lost in Stories. Its a monthly meme where we post about our favorite book from the past month.

My favorite book I read in February was Texas Gothic, by Rosemary Clement-Moore. It was just such a light, fun mystery. And I loved Amy, the main character, so much--she was just my type of heroine: snarky and sarcastic but down-to-earth and not annoying at all. Plus, I really liked the whole family of witches thing the book had going on, cuz I've always had a soft spot for books about witches. And seriously this book had the most hilarious first chapter ever. I really hope there's going to be another book about Amy's older sister or cousin or something.

Best of the Bunch: November 2011

Best of the Bunch is a meme hosted by Lyrical of Lyrical Reviews, where we highlight our favorite read from the past month--our "hot pick, top read, must-put-it-on-your-reading-list-immediately book."

For once I didn't even have to think about my answer. Scorpio Races (read my review here) was by FAR my favorite book this month. It was perfect in every single wonderful way. There wasn't anything that I didn't like. And believe me, I don't say that about very many books. Puck is so spunky and stubborn and brave and absolutely fantastic. And Sean--I don't think boys get any sexier than him. I loved the writing, and the plot and pacing were exactly right. GO READ THIS BOOK!

Best of the Bunch: October 2011

Ug, picking a favorite was so hard this month! But I think I'm going to go with "The Girl in the Steel Corset," by Kady Cross (read my review of it here). It was my first experience with steampunk, and I fell totally in love with the genre all from this one book. Plus the book has some really great characters (Griffin! Jack!) and awesome fight scenes. And it has descriptions of cool clothes, which never hurts a book, in my opinion. Another part of why I adored this book so much is that it doesn't rush the romance--it leaves plenty of room for development in the next books.

Best of the Bunch: September 2011

Best of the Bunch is a meme hosted by Lyrical of Lyrical Reviews, where we highlight our favorite read from the past month--our "hot pick, top read, must-put-it-on-your-reading-list-immediately book."

My favorite read in September was "Uncommon Criminals," by Ally Carter (read my review here). It was so ridiculously fun to read. I loved the characters and the hijinks and the witty dialog . . . I loved everything about it, really. It's the sequel to "Heist Society," which was my Best of the Bunch pick for last month. I'm not big on sequels, so I was worried "Uncommon Criminals" wouldn't live up to "Heist Society," but it totally did. And, even better, you don't have to have read "Heist Society" for this one to make sense--it's an awesome adventure all on its own. If you haven't started this series yet, you really, really need to!

Best of the Bunch: August 2011

Best of the Bunch is a meme hosted by Lyrical of Lyrical Reviews, where we highlight our favorite read from the past month--our "hot pick, top read, must-put-it-on-your-reading-list-immediately book."

This was a hard decision because with only a few exceptions, I loved all the books I read this month. But since I can only pick one, my favorite read for August was "Heist Society," by Ally Carter (read my review here). It was exactly what I was hoping it would be--a witty, hilarious adventure with great characters. It's one of those books I can (and did) recommend to anyone, regardless of their age or genre preferences. It's for sure going on my list of favorite books. I'm so excited to read the sequel, "Uncommon Criminals," because I've heard it's just as good.
